Several of our students scored well in Hindi. Here is a summary of what made them score high:
/ Hard-working: There is no short cut to success. When student makes an effort, it pays off. Be in writing Hindi composition weekly, sending audio assignments, self-correcting sentences. How intuitive is that!
/ Actively seeking answers: There are several students who understand that they need to address a few of challenging areas like gender, case, postposition etc. There would be a few who understand that they run short of words and ask for exercises related to those. In net, those students, who have taken time to understand themselves and seek answers actively, have done well.
/Ownership: Students who are attentive and want to fair well, fair well. They tend to revise their work, take ownership of their exam piece as well.
/ Self-esteem: Students who have had low self- esteem and do not take ownership, tend to finish the test early and do not revise. They tend to give-up on tasks much easily and lose interest in subject. Low self-esteem and knowledge is cyclical. However, low self-esteem needs to be addressed carefully and emphasis should be on learning journey and power of learning.
/ Positive parent-child relationship: Parents who have actively taken time out from busy schedule have had excellent reflection on child’s performance as well. This is not one time off. Those parents who have been plainly pushy vs. those who intervened have different results as well. Pushy parents tend to lower self-esteem which bounces back negatively.
